THE ESSENTIALS

So you are all geared up to come visit Telos 101! Here’s a few things that you may need to know before your stay.

WIFI

Out at the resort, we have wifi packages available to purchase.  If just checking your emails, sending a few photos and a call home every couple of days is your thing, expect it to cost approximately $70 AUD.  Our resort wifi beams direct from satellites, and as such, connection quality can vary throughout your stay. We do have phone and 4G access available for those with an Indonesian SIM card (these can be bought for about $20 AUD) - again, we are in the islands and so the connection quality can fluctuate. If your phone has global roaming then you will get signal whilst out and about in the boats, however this can get expensive unless you have arranged for an international package.

MALARIA

The likelihood of malaria presence in the islands often gets raised as a question. Certainly whilst there are the very rare reports of malaria in the Telos, these are mainly confined to the local village areas.  In our ten years of operation, we have had no reports emanating from guests or employees staying with us.  We attribute this to the fact we operate underground septic and water pipes, and as we have a very lush low cut lawn throughout the entirety of the property, we have no leafy vegetation, jungle or stagnant/open water areas (other than the pool) to attract mosquitos.  If you are after peace of mind, it’s suggested you visit your local doctor for medication prior to your trip. We also recommend bringing Bushmans insect repellant or similiar with you.

WHAT TO BRING

We tell guests all the time that you really only need spare surf essentials (e.g. booties, boardies, rash vests, sunscreen, thongs or slip on shoes, fins, leggies, wax etc.) as generally you will be wearing boardies, a tee or singlet every day/night. The only other item that you may possibly find beneficial is a very light spray/rain jacket for those occasional days you are on the boat and the rain kicks in on the ride home. Doesn’t matter where you are on the equator - a 30 knot boat ride home in the rain will get you chilly! Also if you have a dry bag, it’s not a bad idea to bring that to keep all your belongings safe and dry on the boat if travelling in the open sided vessels.

Other than this, bring a little Indonesian currency if you are planning to buy local souvenirs whilst in town. We operate in AUD, but will accept Indonesian rupiah also.

We have Australian power boards available at the resort with Indonesian adaptors to charge your electrical items, however by all means throw an Indo-Aus adaptor in for use at airport and hotel stops prior to Telos 101 arrival.

VISA

As of 2020, Australians and a number of other countries do not need a visa to visit Indonesia providing your stay is less than 30 days. However, please note that your passport will need to have minimum six months validity upon your arrival into Indonesia.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

TRAVEL INSURANCE IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL GUESTS AND MUST INCLUDE BOTH MEDICAL EVACUATION AND A 24 HOUR EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY.

You will be required to present a copy of this document and your emergency contact details upon your arrival at the resort. Surfing can be dangerous and the medical facilities on hand in Telos are not of western standard. Insurance gives you the peace of mind to surf without any hesitation!

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to hit us up via info@telos101.com and we will do our best to answer them for you.
